16 Year Old Black Girl Makes Olympic History

16 year Old Gabby Douglas made Olympic history on Thursday by becoming the first African American to win a gold medal in the women’s all around gymnastics competition.

George Zimmerman’s Bond Set at $150,000

George Zimmerman had his bond hearing today in the Trayvon Martin murder case. The judge set Zimmerman’s bond at$150,000. During the bond hearing, George Zimmerman apologized for the first time to Trayvon Martin’s parents for what happened to their son. Trayvon Martin’s parents did not feel that his apology was sincere anf feel that the timing of it is self serving to Zimmerman.

President Obama Comments on Trayvon Martin Case

President Obama recently commented publicly for the first time about the Trayvon Martin case . President Obama did not wish to go into too much detail because things are still under investigation, but he said “if he had a son, he would look like Trayvon Taylor.” He also so stated that it was a tragedy and that he can only imagine what Trayvon’s parents are going through.

Trayvon Martin: Thousands Rally for Justice

March 23rd, 2012

Thousands of people rallied for justice in Sanford Florida last nignt for teenager Trayvon Martin. Trayvon Martin was the 17 year old African American boy who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman. George Zimmerman is a 28 year old neighborhood watch leader who has told police he shot the unarmed teenager in self defense.

Zimmerman has not been arrested or charged in this incident even though he was walking around the neighborhood with a loaded gun and is not part of the local law force. Trayvon Martin’s parents and thousands of peope are demanded further investigation into this case. In addition to the rally in Sanford Florida, they are rallies being held throughout the country.

Whitney Houston Autopsy Results

Whitney Houston’s autopsy report results have been released. The toxicology results show that Whitney Houston had cocaine in her system at the time of her death. The legendary singer was known to have struggled with a drug addiction in the past. Heart disease was also named as a factor in her death which has been determining caused by drowning. Who is Joseph Kony?

If you have never heard of Joseph Kony, you will probably hear about him soon. There is a movement called Kony 2012 to make his name a household name until he is brought to justice. Joseph Kony is the leader of the LRA which stands for the Lord’s Resistance Army. The LRA is a group of guerilla fighting rebels known for abducting children and forcing them to either fight in his army or become sex slaves.

Joseph Kony is the leader of this group which also is known throughout Africa for committing atrocities over the last 3 decades. Kony was born in Uganda in 1964 and is now currently in his 40’s. The Kony 2012 movement is determined to put a stop to his campaign of murder and terror. The video below gives you more info about Joseph Kony and the LRA.

Bishop Eddie Long’s Wife Calls Off Divorce

Bishop Eddie Long, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, can’t seem to stay out of the news lately. Just 2 weeks ago he made the news by being crowned king in some ridiculous ceremony performed by Ralph Messer. Now it is reported that his wife, Vanessa Long, has called off the divorce she previously filed.

This is the second time in three months that Vanessa Long has called off plans to divorce Bishop Eddie Long, who has battled accusations of improper sexual relationships with male members of his congregation. It has been reported that she and her husband have mutually decided to work things out.

Whitney Houston’s Funeral Broadcasted Live on TV

Whitney Houston’s funeral is currently being broadcasted live on TV. CNN started coverage as early as 11 am today. Despite earlier reports that Bobby Brown was not invited, he is did show up at the funeral. Several stars will be singing at the funeral such as R. Kelly and gospel great Cece Winans.

It just goes to show just how big of an influence Whitney Houston was on many lives since the funeral is being covered by a major news network such as CNN. Whitney Houston was truly loved and rightfully so.

Bobby Brown Told Not to Attend Whitney Houston’s Funeral

Several sources are reporting that people connected to the Houston family are telling her ex-husband, Bobby Brown, not to attend the funeral services to be held for Whitney Houston.

Sources close to Bobby Brown say that he is extremely disappointed, and wants to be at the service to support his daughter with Houston, Bobbi Kristina. Bobbi Kristina previously had to be rushed to hospital for anxiety treatment upon hearing the news of her mom’s death.

Jennifer Hudson Gives Tribute to Whitney Houston at Grammys

Although nobody can compare to Whitney Houston’s voice, Jennifer Hudson paid tribute to Whitney by singing “I Will Always Love You” at the Grammys last night. It was a beautiful rendition and many were moved by the performance. Legendary singer Whitney Houston passed away on the night before the Grammys and the cause her death is still unknown at this time.
