Al Davis, owner of the Oakland Raiders, died today at the age of 82. Al Davis was a pioneer in giving minorities the opportunity to become head coaches in the NFL. He was the first team owner in the NFL to hire an African American head coach when he hired Art Shell. He was the first to draft an African American quarterback as well. He had a major impact on sports in general, but because he gave minorities high profile opportunities in his organization, we pay him tribute on BlackSociety.com R.I.P. Al Davis.
